This gorgeous vintage peplum dress is a lovely turquoise blue with a large floral pattern. I love how the peplum gracefully angles in the back. Simple accessories include some silver t-strap sandals, an ivory and clear beaded bracelet, and vintage crystal clip on earrings.
I found this fabulous suede and faux fur vest at the local thrift store. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it went with a vintage olive herringbone pencil skirt and cream blouse I've had for years. The blouse has this magnificent pleated jabot which is only visible in the last few photos. But I buttoned the vest because I wanted you to be able to see the vest's feminine silhouette and the studded and embroidered trim. No accessories needed...just some killer heels!
I call this photo series "Tales of the Old Country." The outfit is a little bit Russian folkloric and a little bit Pirates of the Carribean. Whatever you want to call it...IT'S FUN!
The key piece here is the magnificent gored skirt with alternating panels of black crushed velvet and a wildly colorful print. I've added a vintage lace Victorian-style blouse from the 1960's and a textured, black faux fur vest. It's all topped off with a brown leather belt and some fabulous black boots. (Accessories were kept minimal to draw attention to the wonderful detail in the outfit.) And the best part is...everything was thrifted...except for the boots!
I recently discoved this wonderful blog called http://www.everythingstyle.com/ Shae Acopian Detar is a photographer, stylist, and model. She creates the most inspiring photos. I particularly love her use of vintage clothing items in her shoots. Here are a few of my favorites:
