Red Carpet Premiere of The Grace Card

It's finally here!!!  It's been a year and a half since I worked as the Costume Designer for the film, The Grace Card, which opens tomorrow Friday, February 25 in theaters nationwide. Check http://www.thegracecardmovie.com/ for locations.  Tuesday night was the Red Carpet Premiere in Memphis, Tennessee at the historic Orpheum Theater followed by a reception at the National Civil Rights Museum.  It was a lovely event.  The movie is WONDERFUL...very touching and uplifting.  It addresses racial reconciliation and highlights the healing power of forgiveness.  This is a "must see" film!  Call ahead; some showtimes are already sold out.  Here are a few photos from the Premiere...

I am excited to anounce a giveway from DownEast Basics, a fashionable and affordable women's clothing company. One lucky Hip Fashion Stylist reader will win any one "new arrivals" item from the http://www.downeastbasics.com/ website.  I recently used some of their clothing for a magazine fashion feature (more on that later). Their clothes are stylish, reasonably priced, and well made.  Their service department is efficient and helpful.  I highly recommend them!  Here's me in my favorite outfit from their new arrivals collection.  Love the attached faux belt!

Tenth Avenue North Music Video and The Grace Card

Here is a new music video from Tenth Avenue North for their song "Healing Begins."  It features scenes from the upcoming movie "The Grace Card."  This song is featured in the film.  I was the Costume Designer for the movie, not the music video itself.  Only 10 more days until the U.S. release of "The Grace Card"...on Feb. 25.  Enjoy the video, then GO SEE THE MOVIE!!!  Check http://www.thegracecardmovie.com/ for theater locations.

Plus Size

OK, it's time to get on my soapbox.  I don't do it very often, but some issues just NEED to be addressed...like plus size clothes.  First of all, I must admit that the selection of plus size clothes is much better than it was in years past.  The following photos show some of the cute options available.  However, clothing manufacturers still have a far way to go before they have met the basic needs of the plus size woman.

Torrid
Cute dress, but unfortunately, this was one of the few garments at Torrid that offered any coverage.  Most larger curvy women I know, want to cover their arms.  A 3/4 length sleeve is the most flattering because it doesn't end at the bustline.

Roaman's

The average size woman in the US is a size 14, the size where plus size clothing begins.  With that many plus size women buying clothes, they should have a huge selection.  Did you know that many clothing designers only carry up to size 8?  That's ridiculous!  And one other point before I get off my soapbox...why don't plus size stores use plus size models?  Enough said.

Formal Dress

Recently I have been looking for a formal dress to wear to the upcoming movie premiere of The Grace Card.  (In theaters on Feb. 25).  These are two of my favorites I found on http://www.tidebuy.com/.  Love the colors!  Unfortunately, it's too late to order either of them, so I'm still looking.  I'll probably decide on something knee length, vintage, and definitely unique.
