Three ties from my online vintage shop were in the recent National Geographic Movie "Killing Kennedy." Two appeared on Rob Lowe as JFK and one was on an FBI agent as he interrogated Lee Harvey Oswald (Will Rothhaar).  Amy Harrell, Costume Designer, did a fantastic job with the wardrobe for the movie.

October Baby The Movie - Every Life Is Beautiful

I usually blog about fashion related topics only, but I just had to tell you about OCTOBER BABY.  This touching and inspiring movie will be coming out in theaters on March 23.  I was invited to a pre-screening recently and let me say that this movie is definitely a MUST SEE!

After suffering some medical problems a young college girl discovers she was adopted...after a failed abortion attempt. The movie was inspired by an actual abortion survivor's story. I had never even heard the term "abortion survivor" before. I didn't know they existed, but they do.  

The producers of OCTOBER BABY have assigned 10% of the profits of the movie to the Every Life is Beautiful Fund, which will distribute funds to frontline organizations helping women facing crisis pregnancies, life-affirming adoption agencies, and those caring for orphans.

Please make plans to see it on opening weekend.  You'll be glad you did!!  And if it is not coming to your town, check the movie website to see how you can partner with Provident Films (Sony) to bring it to your location.

The Grace Card - Red Carpet Premiere and Opening Weekend

I'm finally getting around to posting a photo of me taken on the Red Carpet at The Grace Card Premiere.  What I wore...a FABULOUS black and white vintage dress with a ruched top, sequined waist, and tulip skirt.  Accessories included ruby suede French heel pumps with gold piping, vintage rhinestone bracelet, a black and gold beaded evening bag, and shoulder grazing black beaded earrings with tassels.

It has been one week since the opening of The Grace Card.  I am grateful that it has received some excellent reviews from the press...but even more important is what so many people are saying about how the movie has touched their lives.

Red Carpet Premiere of The Grace Card

It's finally here!!!  It's been a year and a half since I worked as the Costume Designer for the film, The Grace Card, which opens tomorrow Friday, February 25 in theaters nationwide. Check http://www.thegracecardmovie.com/ for locations.  Tuesday night was the Red Carpet Premiere in Memphis, Tennessee at the historic Orpheum Theater followed by a reception at the National Civil Rights Museum.  It was a lovely event.  The movie is WONDERFUL...very touching and uplifting.  It addresses racial reconciliation and highlights the healing power of forgiveness.  This is a "must see" film!  Call ahead; some showtimes are already sold out.  Here are a few photos from the Premiere...

Tenth Avenue North Music Video and The Grace Card

The Grace Card Movie Trailer Released

Last year I work as the costume designer on a wonderful movie with Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr.  The movie is called The Grace Card.  It was to be released in Fall 2010.  However, because the movie was picked up by Sony Entertainment (hurray!) the  premiere has been postponed until February 25, 2011.  This week the theatrical trailer was released (in the U.S.).  It is also available for viewing at the website:   http://thegracecardmovie.com/

Please take the time to check it out!  It is a beautiful story of the power of forgiveness.  I felt blessed to be a part of the crew on such a worthwhile production.

This photo was taken during the filming of the library scene...which you can also watch on the website.  The set is a beautiful home library in the historic district of downtown Memphis.  That's me...the one with the hair!

Working on the movie was a wonderful experience and the crew had a great time working together.  But don't think it is a glamorous job.  It's a lot of work...pre-production meetings, shopping and fittings for a rather large cast, organizing all the clothes, loading the trailer, 10-14 hour days/nights...like a said, lots of work!  Thank goodness for my efficient wardrobe department supervisors, Barbara and Sharon.  And it's amazing to see how all the different departments work together to make it happen.
